Taiwan LED manufacturers were very active at this year’s Light+Building 2014 show that took place in Frankfurt, Germany last week. The main theme of Taiwanese manufacturers at the show was LED technology. Some major technology highlights included flip chip LED, Alternating Current (AC) Driver-on-Board (DoB) Chip-on-Board (COB) modules.
Unlike previous shows, where Taiwanese LED manufacturers were gathered in Hall 10, many manufacturers reserved larger booth spaces in Hall 4 and Hall 6 through their oversea offices to build up brand image. Taiwanese LED manufacturers including Epistar, Everlight, Lite-On, Edison Opto, Lextar and TSMC Solid State Lighting (SSL) and more. While lighting manufacturers that attended the show were Beautiful Light Technology Co. (BLTC), Laster Tech, Adata Lighting and others.
To understand major LED technology development trends, one just needs to visit Epistar’s booth at the Frankfurt lighting show. Main LED technologies exhibited at the booth included flip chip LED, HV LED, HV LED COB modules and other related applications. The company also displayed a flip chip COB module developed with client Unistars. Another product developed with client Everlight showcased at the booth was a white chip COB module. LEDs made using flip chip with adhered phosphor film technology do not require LED leadframes. The company also showcased dual color flash LED modules.
Taiwanese luminaire manufacturer Everlight took on a completely different approach from last year. The company did not highlight its main Everlight brand at the show, but instead attended the show under subsidiaries Zenaro and WOFI. The booth’s main theme was lighting and luminaires.
LED package is still Lite-On Technology’s core technology. The company displayed its current technology development through LED lighting end products including flip chip COB, AC LED ceiling lamps, and different color rendering COB product series.
Delta Electronics mostly promoted outdoor LED streetlight solutions that integrated the company’s unique power management system and wireless control platform. The LED lighting products meets innovative design and breakthroughs in the LED lighting field, which raises luminous efficacy to 110 lm/W.
TSMC SSL showcased mostly Phosphor on Die (PoD) product series. Attracted by PoD series highlighted lead framework free, and direct phosphor coating methods, many foreign buyers stopped by the company’s booth.
Lextar products exhibited included direct-type panel lights, LED candle light and others. In addition, lead frame free white chips were also a main feature at the show.
Edison Opto displayed DoB AC LED module products at the show. In addition, the company’s remote light bar that coats phosphor powder onto bulb’s outer shells was also very unique.
Crossing from memory module industry to LED lighting, ADATA displayed a series of indoor luminaires at Hall 10, including LED table lamps, T8 LED tubes, candle lamps and others.
